(Warning! This one takes a LITTLE time, effort & money, but is really rewarding!)
Through the CD Recycling Center of America, you can recycle both CDs, DVDs and their plastic cases.
They do an amazing job of recycling every part of the CD and case. However...
1. They request that you pre-separate the CDs from the plastic cases before shipping them.
2. There is a processing fee and you have to pay for your own shipping. (You can get a discounted shipping fee if you ask to send the CDs via "media mail".)
So, unfortunately sending them is a bit pricey. But for use after a one-time huge cleanout of all your old CDs and DVDs, it is well worth it to know you have kept all those old CDs and DVDs and their cases out of the landfill!

Don't see the item you are hoping to recycle anywhere on this website or online and not ready to go gungho with a recycling art project? Then please throw it out! ...The reality is, if we put items in any recycling stream that are not recyclable, it just makes more work for the recycling company.
